Coordinator of High School Chemistry Teaching Award
Rob Lamb is in his 17th year teaching science, the past 15 teaching chemistry at Pattonville High School. He is a big proponent of authentic assessment strategies and technology in the classroom. Ideas he developed led to his involvement in an exploratory grant from the National Science Foundation under the Cyberlearning designation. This grant focuses on the creation and use of infographics in the classroom to increase science data literacy. This exploratory grant was so successful, Lamb is currently working on a larger second grant teaching other teachers in Colorado how to incorporate infographics into their classrooms.
Rob has spoken at the National Science Teacher Conference six times, as well as at EdcampKC, EdcampSTL, and in several school settings. He has been asked to speak regionally on the “flipped” classroom model. In district-wide professional development, he has been a technology leader and has led sessions on social justice.
Rob participated in the highly selective Discovery Siemens STEM Institute, and has since been selected as a Discovery Education Program Champion where he serves as a teacher liaison for programs and competitions. In 2016 Rob received the Robert E. Yager Excellence in Teaching Award and was selected as the Yager Scholar. He received a Peabody Energy Leader In Education Award and the Young Educator of the Year Award from the Educational Technology Association of Saint Louis, and the Saint Louis Local Section ACS Educator of the Year Award. Rob received his M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and his BS in Biology from Bradley University.
