Paramita Deria earned her PhD in Organic Chemistry from Duke University and completed postdoctoral training in the laboratories of John Hartwig at UC Berkeley and Richard Silverman at Northwestern University. She began her professional career in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology with Pfizer R&D in 2015, based in Groton, CT. After a few years, she relocated to St Louis and currently serves in the Small Molecule R&D division at Bayer Crop Science.
Dr Deria and her husband, Dr Pravas Deria—also a chemist and a professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale—have two daughters who are in elementary school. In addition to her professional commitments, Dr. Deria enjoys traveling and actively volunteers in her children’s activities.
