Leah O’Brien, Director-at-Large
Director-at-large
Leah O’Brien is a Director-at-large for the section. She served as Chair of the Section in 2003, and as General Chair of the 2011 Midwest/Great Lakes Regional ACS Meeting. She won the Section’s Distinguished Service Award in 2013. Currently she assists with the High School/University Awards Night and coordinates the ACS Midwest Award Symposium held at the Midwest Regional Meeting.
Leah received a BA in Chemistry with Departmental Distinction from Saint Olaf College (Northfield, MN) and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Arizona. She is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville.
