Ziad Ramadan has a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. In October 1998, he joined Professor Phil Hopke’s research group at Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA, in the department of Physical and Environmental Chemistry to work on receptor modeling. The group was primarily concerned with the application of multivariate statistical and neural network methods to the identification and quantitative apportionment of air pollutants to their sources.
In 2001, he joined Argose, Inc (Waltham, MA) as an analytical chemist and chemometrician. At Argose, he continued working with multivariate analysis, chemometric modeling and statistical analysis on spectroscopic data to develop a completely noninvasive glucose monitor for the detection and monitoring of glucose levels in both children and adults. Currently, he is a research scientist at the Nestlé Research Centre–St Louis. He joined Nestlé Research Center in 2003 working on projects revolving around the use of nutritional metabonomics. His current research includes the application and development of chemometrics tools to extract information from multivariate data, such as feature selection methods for metabolomic biomarker identification and mining of large metabonomics datasets.
