Ben Barth obtained a BA in Chemistry in 2005 from Spring Arbor University and a PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University in 2011. His undergraduate research explored the use of fruit and vegetable oils as solvents for a Diels-Alder reaction, and his graduate work involved synthesis of non-natural amino acids for the total synthesis of depsipeptide natural products.

Ben is currently an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at St Louis College of Pharmacy where he teaches introductory chemistry courses. His academic interests include the development of an introductory chemistry curriculum specifically for pharmacists as well as laboratory experiences to accompany introductory chemistry concepts.
