Have you ever given a moment’s thought to how the local ACS section is run? I know, I know, that’s not likely for most, but you are reading this, so maybe….
You might have some ideas about how things could be done better or some things that we’re not doing but should. Or you might just want to get your hands dirty. Or you might know someone like that. The Section is looking for nominees to run for 2016 offices.
Nominations are open up and down the ballot, from Chair-elect through Director and Councilor, with more in between. Self-nominations as well as other-nominations are welcome, and it takes only seconds with our online nomination form. The Nominating Committee will follow up on all submissions. Think about it, then do it. Now would be good. But if not now, at least by June 30. After that, nominations for 2016 offices are closed. The official ballot will be released to voting members of the Section in early October.
You can learn more about what each position entails by checking the Job Manual.
Volunteering for elective office is a rewarding experience, ripe with opportunities for professional development. You’ll interact with industrial and academic leaders, build relationships, and hone your leaderships skills. So if you or someone you know would benefit from and contribute to such an opportunity, nominate before June 30!
