The Saint Louis section Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) partnered with the Chicago and Nashville Local section YCCs to offer a virtual three-week professional development series to our local YCC communities.
Running from mid-May to early June, 2020, the series brought together chemistry professionals from each representative local section to lead workshops on job application preparation, interviewing, negotiating, and onboarding. Young chemists from all over the US tuned in to participate; 15 home states and 5 countries were represented by the 120 members who RSVPed.
The first of the series, on resumes, CVs, and cover letters, was the best attended, with about 60 participants. The following two sessions garnered crowds of around 30 each. All in all, the series was a great way to bring our communities together to expand our skill sets and learn from professional development experts in our field!
