Shelley Minteer
Some others of you may know that the American Chemical Society is launching a suite of nine fully open-access journals collectively known as ACS Au*.
Only a very few of you likely know how these two seemingly unrelated facts are in fact related.
Shelley has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the new ACS Au journals. Each of the nine will have its own Deputy Editor, but Shelley is head honcho.
In their announcement, ACS Publications Division had this to say about their new E-i-C, quoting at length:
Professor Minteer is the Dale and Susan Poulter endowed chair of biological chemistry and associate chair of chemistry at the University of Utah. She manages a multi-disciplinary research group with a broad range of projects, including work on electrocatalysis, batteries, organic electrosynthesis, synthetic biology, and electrochemical biosensors. Minteer received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Iowa. She has been an associate editor for the Journal of the American Chemical Society since 2016.
ACS Publications selected Professor Minteer to lead these essential journals due to her research expertise, familiarity with open access developments, and her editorial experience. She is also noteworthy for her commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusivity, as noted by her current service as Chair of the Chemistry Department Diversity and Equity Committee at the University of Utah.
We heartily congratulate Professor Minteer (or, as we know her, Shelley) for this prestigious appointment. The new journals will begin accepting submissions from authors in January, 2021.

ACS Au journals
*For some reason known only to the ACS Publications Division, another open-access journal confusingly titled JACS Au, which launched in 2020, is not considered part of this set.
