Lisa Balbes
Yesterday, Lisa did a Reddit Science AMA. ICYMI, AMA is “ask me anything,” where a subject-matter expert fields questions in real time from an online audience. Lisa’s AMA was on “chemistry careers, nontraditional careers for scientists, and making career transitions.” The session drew 63 comments including both questions and answers.
Most of the topics ranged over issues for newly minted Bachelor-level chemists to current and recent grad schoolers. Many questions about alt-chem careers. All very interesting and a pretty quick read. Even if you’re firmly ensconced in a satisfying, well-paying traditional career path, you can learn a lot about the concerns of up-and-comers who will be following (or in some cases, displacing) you.
