The ACS Fellows program is intended, according to program guidelines, to “recognize and honor members of the American Chemical Society for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the science and the profession and for their equally exemplary service to the Society.” (Emphasis in the original.)
Keith, professor in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at University of Missouri–St Louis, local section Chair (2008), and winner of the local section Distinguished Service Award (2010), joins a select group that is intended to comprise no more than about 2% of the ACS national membership.
Keith can now add one more acronym to his business card: ACSF. (FACS was already taken by another professional organization; that is one hat that Keith does not wear.)
