The Saint Louis Section–ACS has two different advertising placements available: the Home Page, and the Chemical Bond.
Home Page
The following policies govern acceptance of ads for the Home Page:
- Advertiser will have exclusive placement on the home page and on certain other pages that include a right-hand gutter in the template (such as this page). The ad will appear in this gutter.
- Content must be designed to fit attractively in an area no more than 288 pixels wide by 288 pixels tall. Content may include logo or photo, text, and a single link to an external site. No animations or blinking text, please!
- Advertiser may provide a background image or specify a background color, which must be substantially different from the web page default background. If no background is specified, it will be 20% grey. A 2-pixel outline will be placed around the ad.
- Ads must be pertinent to the audience and mission of our website. We reserve the right to reject any ad.
- Preferred copy submission is html, with graphic elements at a resolution appropriate for screen display and a maximum file size of 250 kB. If you have no experience with html, ask us.
- Advertising rate is $15/month, –10% for 3 months, –25% for 12 months, prepaid.
- Multi-month advertisers are entitled to one change of content per calendar month. Additional changes are $5 each.
- The current advertiser has first call on renewing the space. One month before the current prepaid placement expires, we will accept reservations for the next placement.
Submit reservations to the Webmaster, and let us know if you need an invoice mailed, purchase order quoted, etc. After acceptance or invoicing (if requested), please pay by check to:

Advertising in the Chemical Bond
The Chemical Bond reaches over 800 chemists in the St Louis area every month except June, July, and August. It is a direct and economical way to get your message out when you have something to say about the chemical enterprise.
You may place single ads targeting one or a few specific months, or keep your message in front of our members every month. Prepay for a full year—any nine issues in a row—and get 10% off the single-placement rate.
Your ad can include a mix of text and graphics, but no animations or blinking text, please; link to your own website to capture click-throughs if you like. With multi-month placements, you can switch your copy or rotate your message from issue to issue on request. We are also happy to help with layout and fit; send us the text and electronic files of logos or other graphics, and we’ll provide a mock-up for your approval.
